Alan was born on March 20, 1947, to Lee Edsel and Ruth Helen (Jewel) Buntin in Pawnee, OK. Alan grew up in the Hallett and Jennings area. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1965. After finishing school, Alan attended OSU Okmulgee and earned his associates degree. He started work in the newspaper industry in Arkansas City, KS. He continued in the business working at Moore Business Forms and then Quebecorp in Stillwater until his retirement.

Alan's greatest joy in his life was his family. He has four children, Richard, Darrin, Richard Lee Sneed, and Michelle (Sneed) Schmitt. He was married to the love of his life, Terrie Squires on Aug 8, 1979, in Yale. He was active with his kids, coaching them in little leagues and taking his grandkids fishing at his favorite fishing holes. He made every sporting event his grandkids that he could, being their biggest fan on the sidelines. He also enjoyed working in the yard, growing flowers, and trimming trees. Although he loved making his yard look beautiful, his true passion was his family and that is what he placed most important in this life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, step parents, brother Eddie, sisters Ruth and Cheryl, and his daughter Michelle Schmitt.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Terrie Buntin, sons Richard Buntin and wife Janna of Stillwater, Darrin Buntin and wife Christina of Yale, Richard Lee Sneed and wife Kristen of Gardner, KS, one sister Judy Lipps, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
