Basil Lee
Belveal Sr.
February 21, 1932 – November 12, 2023
Basil Lee Belveal Sr. passed from this life on November 12, 2023, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. His services have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma.
Basil was born on February 21, 1932, to Edgar and Velva (Coy) Belveal in Cushing, Oklahoma. He and his siblings attended Cushing schools. Basil only went to school through the 8th grade, quitting to go to work without his parents knowing but you would never have known that with the amount of wisdom and knowledge he carried throughout his life. Basil spent most of his years in the Yale area where he also raised his family.
Basil met and married the love of his life Delorva Mae Brower. They were married on Basil's 19th birthday and Delorva was just 17. They were married for over 60 years when Delorva passed away. Together they had three children: Sharon Kay, Sheryl Lynn and Basil Jr. Basil was a hard-working man who spent most of his years driving a truck. He worked for multiple different companies, including Earl Bray, Gibble Oil, Lee Way Trucking and with the last company he trucked for being Skinner Tank. Basil also spent some time doing carpentry work for a couple of local builders, Myron Isbell and Harry Sneed.
Although Basil spent many hours on the road, he tried hard to make it home every evening so that he could spend time with his children. He loved his children, but especially his grandchildren. Time spent with his family was what brought him the greatest joy. The news, staying up with the latest political battles and watching his game shows was what he enjoyed during his past times. Basil had a SmartTV and he could not be convinced that the Price is Right ladies, Reba McEntire and Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune were not waving and saying hello to him personally through his SmartTV! He would always wave, smile and say hello back to them. Sharon tried several times to convince him they could not see him, so if she was there, he would try to hide his waves from her.
Basil is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delorva, his daughter Sheryl Blaisdell and son-in-law Dee Blaisdell, son-in-law Frank Prince, brother Sonny Belveal and sister-in-law Pat Belveal, and sister Deloris Jones and brother-in-law Dave Jones.
He is survived by his daughter Sharon Crisjohn and her husband Robert, son Basil Belveal Jr., eleven grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
