BETTY JO PRUITT:

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

A Celebration of Betty's life will be Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the General Assembly and Church Of The Firstborn in Cushing at 2:00 pm.

Betty Jo Patterson Pruitt was born on January 4, 1942, in Fletcher, Oklahoma. She spent her early childhood in Wellington, Texas, where she attended school from first through eighth grade. As a young girl, she worked alongside her family picking cotton—a humble beginning that shaped her lifelong strength, resilience, and unwavering work ethic.

At just 17, while working at the Gathright Café, Betty met the love of her life, Jimmie Pruitt. The two were married on December 24, 1959, beginning a union that would define and bless the rest of her days. When they married, Jimmie had two children, Jim and Janice. Together, they later adopted Tracy Burl Pruitt and Stephanie Nicole Pruitt, completing the family that meant everything to her.

Reflecting on her life, Betty once said, "God knew what He was doing when He allowed Jimmie to come into my life. He and my two kids made my life complete." She was a mother whose love shone through in the smallest, everyday gestures—like making sure fresh cookies were waiting for her children.

Some of Betty's sweetest memories centered on her grandchildren, especially their outings to McDonalds. She loved retelling the story of her grandson Remington, who—at three or four years old—learned they were going to Taco Bell instead. He looked at her and said, "Grandma, next time I get mad at you, I'm gonna tell you don't take me to Taco Bell no more." Betty always laughed that he must never have truly gotten mad at her, because he never said it again.

Betty was baptized on August 28, 1987, a moment of deep importance in her life. She cherished luncheons with her church sisters, spent peaceful days tending to her yard and fishpond, and found joy watching birds—especially hummingbirds, her favorite. She was a devoted and beloved Momma, Grandma, and Great-Grandma whose heart was firmly rooted in her family and faith.

On November 24, 2025, Betty went home to be with the Lord, passing peacefully and surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Charlie Monroe Patterson; mother, Viola Della Scott Patterson; her beloved husband, Jimmie Pruitt; her stepchildren, Jim and Janice Pruitt; her siblings Glenn Armstrong, Bobby Yarrington, Violet Jackson, Velma Wallice, and Monroe Patterson; her great-grandson, Clinton Ray Pruitt; and numerous family members and friends.

Betty is survived by her siblings Rose Mary Lusk, Barbara Pace, and Otis Patterson; her daughter Stephanie and husband Ricky; her son Tracy and wife Brigette; her grandchildren Remington and wife Gracie, Monica and husband James, Vanessa and husband Christopher; and her great-grandchildren Mackinzie, Mariah, Meagan, Remington Jr., Emma, Elena, Ember Pruitt, Liberty, Wyatt, Gage, Ava Hamm, Valencia, Isaiah Jones, and Cashious Mills. She also leaves behind step-grandchildren Jimmy, Derrick, Talon, Colt, Shara, Breanna, Kami, and their families.

Betty Jo Patterson Pruitt lived a life defined by devotion—to her family, her church, and the simple joys that brought her purest peace. Her legacy of love, humor, and gentleness will continue to shine through the generations she leaves behind.
