Beverly Jean
Bass
April 7, 1933 – March 13, 2024
Beverly (Skiff) Bass passed into God's glory on March 13th at 90 years of age. A celebration of her life will be held at 11AM on March 23rd at the First Baptist Church in Perkins, OK and she will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
She was born April 7, 1933, to Alfred J. & Selma Skiff in Omaha, NE. Bev was raised in Omaha and married Dr. Robert Laverne Bass on August 30, 1953. She was a stay-at-home mother raising six children in rural Genoa, NE as well as hosting exchange students from Brazil (Marcio Dominguez) and Belgium (Lut Berckmans-Clerinx). She was an accomplished organist/pianist and choir member of several churches as they moved from Genoa to Omaha and then to Fairfield Bay, AR, Arlington, TX, and finally to Perkins, OK. She resided at Legacy Village in Stillwater until the time of her passing.
Beverly enjoyed traveling and visited several international locations with Bob. She most enjoyed time with her family and shared many vacations with them. With a nearly empty nest, Beverly went back to work as a legal secretary for Central States Insurance Company in Omaha for 10 years before retiring to Arkansas. Besides being highly active in choir, she enjoyed golfing, playing tennis, baking, sewing, and kept meticulous scrapbooks of all their memories. She became a private pilot at age 34, went snow skiing for the first time at the age of 42, and dared to parasail at 51 and windsurf at age 58.
Her faith sustained her throughout her entire life and influenced everyone that knew her. She had a servant's heart and loved hosting medical or school board social events.
Beverly is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and granddaughter, Sheryl Vadney.
She is survived by her sister Vernelle Ferguson of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Valerie (Randy) Engel of Perkins, OK; Carole (Ed) Vadney of Delanson, NY; Craig (Pam) Bass of Omaha, NE; Kent (Linda) Bass of Arlington, TX; Robert J. (Janelle) Bass of Coeur d'Alene, ID; and Dara (Scott) Kustka of Arlington, TX as well as 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.PalmerMarlerFH.com .
