Obituary

Brian Lee Isbell was born into this world in Tulsa, OK on March 27th, 1960 to Grant and Theresa Isbell, Jr. He lived with his family in Drumright where he was Baptized in the First Baptist Church on September 28, 1969. Later, the family relocated to Yale, OK, where Brian spent the rest of his childhood.

Brian graduated from Yale High School in 1978. He often claimed he couldn't remember if he stayed to toss his cap, because he was ready to hit the road. After graduation, he worked for Honda in Muskogee, and fueled his passion for racing. If he wasn't at work, he was on a track somewhere looking to make some fast cash. Larry Slaughter was a big mentor in his life. Some of his greatest memories were on a flat track with friends who became family to him. He used his experiences on the circuit, and applied them to whatever challenges came for the rest of his life.

Although racing never really stopped being a part of who he was, he found a way for continuing life on the road, working in the energy pipeline industry. Like all things in life, it didn't come easy. He began at the bottom, as a laborer, then a pipe fitter. After that, Brian worked as a truck driver hauling pipeline equipment across the U.S. The next step for him, and where he really excelled, was when he had the opportunity to become an equipment operator. Following that, he made foreman, and eventually, superintendent. From there, he began inspecting, and eventually made Chief Inspector as a contractor for various oil and gas companies overseeing projects.

When Brian had downtime you could usually find him tinkering with his bikes, checking meat on a smoker or his trusty charcoal, swapping stories, sharing laughs, playing with grandkids and his bulldogs, and spending time with Sherry.

Brian was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Grant Isbell, Jr. and Theresa (Spencer) Isbell, and his brother, Grant Isbell, III.

Here with us, his memory lives on in the people he cherished most—his wife, Sherry; six children and their spouses, thirteen grandchildren and one on the way, extended family, as well as countless friends both old and new he made over his lifetime.

We'll carry his laughter, quick wit, and grin with us always. Until we meet again, we'll hold you in our hearts and see you in every sunset.
