Early in the morning on March 10, 1953 Carlos Gene Combs was born to Doyle and Burdean Combs.  He was born on a farm on the edge of Lincoln County.

Carlos grew up as a little farm boy attending grade school at Sunny Side, then Cushing High School for 2 years and completed his High School education at Ripley.  He was involved in FFA all his school years receiving the high individual award in dairy cattle judging at the State Interscholastic. He played basketball while at Ripley and was a very likeable person who had many friends.

After graduation Carlos attended auctioneering and auction sales management school in Kansas City, MO. He received his diploma and honorary title of colonel on June 23, 1972.  Carlos was baptized in the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by his father, Brother Doyle Combs on June 7, 1967.  He felt like God called him to be a Minister of the Gospel.  Bro. Carlos spent his life going among the brethren in many places, holding meetings to help encourage, strengthen, and establish the Doctrine of Christ.  He spent time volunteering, working on churches, making repairs for church members in need, and often helping financially.  Above all he accomplished in life, Carlos wanted most to faithfully fulfil his duty for God that he could reign with him when this day came.

Carlos met Donna Overacker and later they were married on December 1, 1972 in Tulare, California by Bro. Cecil Rossiter. He and his wife returned to Oklahoma starting their life together on the same piece of property they would live together for over 47 years of marriage.  They later adopted a newborn, Sandra DeAnn on November 30, 1988.  God would call her home in March of 2005.  In 2000 Carlos and Donna had their only son Cyle, one that God had promised more than 28 years earlier.

Carlos was self-employed, starting Combs Construction in 1978 where he worked for many in this community and served numerous repeat customers.  He felt like word of mouth was the best advertisement and always tried to give homeowners more than they had agreed upon, often doing extra work at no charge. Carlos was in the registered limousine cattle business where he was president and sale manager at different times for 2 associations.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Derrill Combs of Cushing; daughter, Sis. Sandra Combs of the home in Cushing.

He is survived by his wife Donna of the home; son Cyle and wife Chloe Combs of Cushing; brother, Jerry Combs of Cushing; as well as many extended family members and brethren.

The family will be present at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing to receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020.  Visitation will also be available Monday, October 19, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Cushing, 1321 E. Ash Street.  Burial will follow at Flynn Cemetery in Cushing.
