Carol Jane
Childers
September 22, 1942 – January 31, 2025
Carol Jane Childers, a beacon of warmth and generosity, completed her earthly journey on January 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in her hometown of Cushing, Oklahoma. Born on September 22, 1942, Carol's life was a testament to the power of kindness, dedication, and the simple joy of living a life filled with purpose.
Carol's roots ran deep in the soil of Cushing, where she was born, grew up, and eventually raised her own family. She graduated from Cushing High School, where she not only excelled in her studies but also shone on the basketball and softball fields. Her love for sports was matched only by her passion for the outdoors, where she could be found working with cattle, horses, and goats on the farm, or hunting for mushrooms in the serene Oklahoma woodlands.
Her professional life was a reflection of her innate desire to care for others. Carol worked in Home Health, dedicating herself to assisting adults with disabilities and special needs, in turn becoming her own children. Her commitment to service extended to her community involvement as a proud member of the Sac & Fox Nation, where she contributed her wisdom and energy to the Law & Order Committee, Land & Cattle, and the Election Committee.
Carol's home was a hub of love and laughter, where she cooked for her family and all the neighborhood children, creating a sanctuary where everyone felt welcome. Her culinary skills were legendary, and her meals were more than just food; they were an expression of her love and thoughtfulness.
Family was the cornerstone of Carol's world, and she is survived by her beloved children Denise Murie, Shelly Pratt, Shawn Pratt, and her cherished extra children Sue Bass, Judy Bass, Jane Crenshaw, Eric Bass, Donavan Haragara, Pearl Butler, Marie Franklin, Andrew Seigle, Kate Boss Seigle, Olivia Seigle, and Brian Smith. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren Damean and Amanda Murie, Hailee Murie, Terry Lee and Jennifer Robinson, Scotty and Caitlin Robinson, Ronnie and Teri Robinson, Shane Pratt, and Shelly Schaffer, and her great-grandchildren Abigail, Fisher, Rowdy, and Talon.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Childers, and her parents, Harry and Martha Jane Pate. Her life was a living example that being generous, thoughtful, and loving can profoundly impact the world.
Let us honor Carol Jane Childers by embracing the values she lived by: love generously, care deeply, and create a community where everyone belongs. Her spirit will continue to inspire and motivate us all.
