Carol Ross, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 74. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, at Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, Ok. Pastor Ralph Hickman will officiate. Public visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Carol was born on May 21, 1942 in Kansas City, Kansas to the late Joe and Virgie Pearl (Brannon) Ballard. She grew up in Cushing and attended Cushing High School. She married her sweetheart Charles Chesmore in 1960. She liked cooking, gardening, flowers, taking care of her family and her dogs and shopping on QVC.
On February 5, 2007, Carol married Don Ross in Cushing.
Many will remember Carol for her cooking, especially her fried chicken and bacon. She enjoyed the holidays season because it allowed her to decorate.
Survivors include her daughter Angie Dingman and her husband Dave of Springfield, Missouri, sister Fayetta Jolley and husband Henry, brother Charles Ballard and wife Sue of Cushing, grandchildren Chris Thompson and Matt Thompson, great grandchild Braden Thompson, numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband's Charles Chesmore and Don Ross, son Jody Chesmore, grandson Justin Thompson, sisters Pat Christy.
