Carole Shaylyn "Shay" Matheny-Smith passed from this life on December 26, 2020 in Oklahoma City.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Oklahoma.

Shay was born October 8, 1954 in Yale, Oklahoma to her mother, Carroll Matheny-Smith (granddaughter to Virgie and Richard Matheny of Yale). She moved to Oklahoma City as a child and would grow up there, graduating from Northwest Classen High School.  She was a hard worker and worked full time putting herself through college.  Shay would receive her bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma.  She worked most of her life as a Respiratory Therapist in Oklahoma City.

She is preceded in death by her mother Carroll and her grandparents.

Shay is survived by her aunt Frances Burrow of Oklahoma City, and uncle Duane Matheny and wife Colleen of Mustang, Oklahoma; as well as several cousins, extended family, and friends.

A private burial will be held at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Oklahoma.
