Carolyn "Skeeter"
Hoover
June 20, 1935 – February 11, 2026
Carolyn June (Conn) Hoover, lovingly known as "Skeeter," passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 11, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born on June 20, 1935, in Asher, Oklahoma, Carolyn was a proud Oklahoma woman whose life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and hard work. As a young girl, she was known for her snow-white hair and bright blue eyes — a striking beauty that matched her vibrant spirit.
On July 21, 1951, she married the love of her life, Jackie Donn "Jack" Hoover, at First Baptist Church in Drumright, Oklahoma. Together they built a life defined by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family. Their marriage was a true partnership, grounded in devotion and strength.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Hoover; her father, Leo "Pa" Conn; her mother, Gussie "Ma" Conn; her sister, Wanda Heffington; and her brothers, Jake, Gene, and Don Conn.
She is survived by her five children: Donnie (Nancy) Hoover, Mike (Carol) Hoover, Lynda Hoover, John (Gayle) Hoover, and Joe (Annette) Hoover; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, who were among her greatest blessings and joys.
Throughout her life, Carolyn had many different occupations. She worked for many years as an assistant to Dr. Weedle before becoming an oil and gas lease agent, proudly earning the nickname "the original land lady." She later owned and operated a laundromat in Perkins. No matter the role, she carried herself with determination, integrity, and quiet strength.
Yet her most cherished title was that of matriarch. She raised five children with steadfast love and grace, creating a home that was always open and always full, full of laughter, stories, and the comforting aroma of a home-cooked meal. She was known for her fried quail, homemade biscuits and gravy, and her unforgettable cornbread. No one ever left her table hungry, and no one ever left without feeling loved.
She also had a deep love for playing pitch and she was exceptionally good at it. Around the kitchen table or at family gatherings, she brought skill, strategy, and just the right amount of competitive spirit. Those card games became cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family.
Carolyn passed down more than traditions; she passed down resilience, wisdom, strength, and unconditional love. Her legacy lives on in every story shared, every recipe made, and every life she touched.
She will forever be remembered as the heart of this family our matriarch, our foundation, and our home.
