Charles Scott Woodson, 91, died September 23, 2020, due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Charles was born August 3, 1929, in Ft. Smith, AR, to Earl and Faye Woodson. He spent all but one year of his childhood and teen years in Poteau. His high school included Oklahoma Military Academy and Poteau High School. Charles earned a business degree at the University of Oklahoma then attended the University of Tulsa College of Law. Charles married Betty F. Fowler on August 8, 1953, in St. Paul's Methodist Church, Shawnee. They resided in Tulsa until 1960, at which time they moved to Drumright. After a short time in private practice, Charles was appointed District Judge by then-Gov. David Hall. He remained on the bench for 29 years before retiring in 1999. He was active in the First United Methodist Church of Drumright, Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, and loved to play golf and bridge. Charles lived in Tulsa at the time of his death.
Charles is survived by his 3 children: Charlotte Keho, Broken Arrow; Scott Woodson, Tulsa; and Gary Woodson and his wife, Julia, Collinsville; and his grandchildren, Andrew Woodson and his wife, Kendra, Peter Woodson and his wife, Besi, Matt Woodson, Sammi Woodson, Aaron Woodson and his wife, Bailey, and Patty Keho; and 1 great-grandchild, Aubree. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, parents, Earl and Faye Woodson, and brothers, Dan Woodson and Joe Woodson.
A Celebration of Life/graveside service will be at Euchee Valley Memorial Park, Cushing, OK (6 mi. west of Drumright) on September 26, 2020, at 10:30 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the Dean McGee Eye Institute. Services provided by Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK, (918) 225-2500.
