Chuck Ramsey, a longtime Legend of Norfolk, OK passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at his home in Norfolk, OK. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the Yale Assembly of God.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Yale Assembly of God, Yale. Family will greet friends at the Yale Assembly of God from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening . Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
Charles Edward Ramsey II was born August 4 th , 1934 in Norfolk, OK to Charley and Marie (Rice) Ramsey. He was the 4th born of 10 Ramsey children. Chuck attended school at Norfolk, graduating with the Norfolk Class of 1952. He was an outstanding basketball player. Chuck was drafted into the US Army after graduation and served 2 years in Germany. After returning home from the service, he began the career he loved as an electrician. Chuck worked for several different companies over the years and found his passion as a lineman. He retired as City Electrician from the City of Yale in 2005. While working for the City of Yale as the city electrician, he enjoyed decorating Downtown Yale for Christmas. Yale was special to Chuck, he took great pride in his town. Chuck enjoyed fishing, playing men's league basketball (well into his 50's), bowling leagues, he was an outstanding dancer. In his later years he enjoyed his lanai and watching his birds and the wildlife on the Ponderosa. He was known as the Mayor of Norfolk to many, never meeting a stranger and loved being with people. He became the local weather man for Norfolk thru his social media. Anyone that ever met Chuck, knew he was One of a Kind. Chuck especially loved being with his children and grandchildren, whom he gave many of them nicknames. He will be missed by all who ever knew him.
Chuck is survived by his children Renee (Boots)Thompson and husband Ronnie of Picayune MS, Rhonda (Mickey) Pillar of Grants New Mexico, Charles (Harlo) Ramsey III and wife Gina of Oklahoma City OK,
Amy (Tootie) Reece and husband Ray of Yale OK, Jean (Jeano) Ramsey Prough and Jayson Thomas of Yale OK. Siblings Bob (Tinney) Ramsey and wife Joline of Rock Springs, Wy,,Bill (Uncle Bill) Ramsey of Stillwater OK, Maggie(Skinny)Watkins of Agra OK, Sylvester (Sig)Ramsey of Seneca, Missouri, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charley and Marie, siblings Lawrence Dale (Big) Ramsey, Freda (Moody)Craig, Josie (Jo)Walker, Rosie (Aunt Rosie) Cox and Mary (Tinney)Baker.
