Cleta Anita
Jolene Porter
April 21, 1937 – February 2, 2020
Cleta Anita Jolene Porter, 83 of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, February 2, 2020. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma with services to be conducted under the direction of Essex Funeral Home of Dewitt, Arkansas.
Cleta was born April 21, 1937 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to proud parents Andrew B. and Leavie F. (Watts) Jackson. Shortly after the family would move to California where she would grow up and graduate from Tulare Union High School. She was married to the love of her life, Alvin Harold "Pal" Porter on July 29, 1955 in Yuma, Arizona. To their union three ornery boys were born, Teddy Lee, Eddie John, and Terry Alvin. The family made their home in California as well as the Perkins/Cushing area until moving to Arkansas in 1998. She would live there until 2018 when she moved back to Stillwater with her son Ed.
Cleta was a truly special person and left an impression on everyone she met. Her joy was sincere, and her love was pure, and she was never stingy about sharing either one. She was passionate about serving the Lord and enjoyed quilting and making hats for her friends. Her home was full so many times with brethren who were able to partake of her hospitality and good cooking. She will truly be missed as a faithful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Cleta is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Harold "Pal"; one infant daughter, Roxanne; brothers Alton, Dorman, and J.N. Jackson; and sisters, Doris Sexton, and Donna Porter.
She is survived by her sons, Teddy Lee Porter of Stillwater, Eddie John Porter of Stillwater, Terry Alvin Porter and wife Wilma of Tryon; grandchildren, Kaden, John Andrew, Annie Shamburg and husband David, Rachel Tanner and husband Justin, Matthew and Lexy, Leah, Aaron, James, and David; great grandchildren, Josiah, Elizabeth and Simon Shamburg, Anlee and Jaxton Tanner; as well as many extended family members and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
