Cody Ray Newman, 22 passed from this life on March 31, 2020 in Lawton, Oklahoma.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Oklahoma.

Cody was born August 1, 1997 in Cushing, Oklahoma to proud parents Kenneth and Cheri Newman.  He was raised in Yale and attended school there graduating with the Class of 2015.  He played basketball for the bulldogs and was affectionately known as the class clown.  After graduating Cody worked in construction and moved to Lawton doing remodeling work.  He was an Indianapolis Colts fan and a Cleveland Browns as he always cheered for the underdog.  Cody will be remembered as a "simple guy" … nothing fancy, no frills, what you saw was what you got.

He was a good kid, an awesome brother to his siblings, a great friend to his friends and anyone he knew or who knew him, he was also a one of a kind, funny, caring, and just an all-around great son to his mother and father. He will be missed by all especially his family and will be remembered forever. The time we had with him was not long enough but was memorable enough that there will always be a place in our hearts, minds, and our daily thoughts that will keep him with us forever.

Cody is preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Newman and one uncle, Billy Rudd.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Kenneth and Cheri Newman of Yale; siblings, Jordan Newman, Taylor Newman, Alexis Newman, and Kenneth Newman III; grandparents, Mary Newman and Carl and Christel Dowell as well as many extended family members and a host of friends.

Due to restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 gathering size mandate, Funeral Services will be held privately for immediate family only.  Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale within the restriction of no more than 10 people gathering.  We respectfully ask everyone cooperate in following the mandates.
