Obituary

We knew little that morning that God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Diane Sue Dix passed away peacefully on Memorial Day, May 29th, 2023. She was born very
prematurely, fitting in just one hand, on December 17th, 1943 in Washington D.C. to John and
Irma Bradley. In the 1940's they did not have NICU so she was sent home with her parents. Her
father made a makeshift incubator out of a dresser drawer that was heated by a small light bulb.
Diane was a very strong determined woman and fought hard in life, even from birth. She grew
up with her beloved older brother, Tom Bradley, who gave her the nickname Midge. Diane fell in
love and married her best friend Barbara Swadley's brother; Richard Lawrence Dix Sr. Richard
is the love of her life and they were happily married for just shy of 60 years. Diane always spoke
of "the look" she gave Richard from across the room, one she had seen in a movie, to make him
fall in love with her. They married on June 15th, 1963 and had two children together. Son,
Richard Dix Jr, and daughter Karen Smith. Diane's beloved grandchildren are Karyn Todd,
Karyn's husband Marshall Todd, Heather Allacher, Heather's longtime partner Damien Vo, Tori
Allacher and Jessica Johnson. She has nine great grandchildren. Diane was a God-fearing
woman who was devoted to Christ. Diane loved Elvis and took a trip to Graceland. She was
also a very talented artist whose water colors looked like oil paintings. In her later years, she
had a passion for making mixed CDs to listen to during supper. Diane's favorite color is purple,
and it was everywhere. Diane's favorite saying was "a penny saved is a penny earned". Which
was very fitting as she was the bookkeeper for her and Richard's Heating and Air conditioning
business. Diane was a very beautiful woman who, in 1968, was asked to pose for the fashion
section in the Albuquerque Journal. She was wonderful with dogs and even taught one to jump
rope with her. To know Diane is to know grace, perseverance, love, passion, patience, virtue
and innocence. The world was blessed for 79 wonderful years with her presence. Diane spent
her last few years pleasantly settled with her husband in the quiet town of Yale, Oklahoma. She
lived across the street from her granddaughter Karyn Todd and her family. Diane's daughter,
Karen Smith, also moved with her parents from Colorado to Oklahoma to be closer to them and
lives only 5 mins away.

We know that we can't have you but we're happy knowing that the angels have finally got you
back. Goodbye to a wonderful woman, devoted wife, beautiful mother and loving grandmother
