Don
King
May 31, 1944 – March 28, 2023
Leslie Donald King, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, with his loved ones by his side. Don was born on May 31, 1944, in Cushing, OK. Don was the second youngest of 7 children born to Guy and Mary Ellen King. He was raised and attended school in Cushing, OK. This is where he eventually went on to meet the love of his life, Marian "House" King. The two were joined in marriage on December 26, 1963. Don and Marian lived in many places over the years, but settled in Cushing, OK where they raised their two daughters Kimberly and Pamela. He worked many jobs throughout his life, eventually retiring from the tank farms as a terminal operator. Everything Don did revolved around his family and providing for them and their future.
Family was everything to Don. He eventually gained two son-in-laws after his daughter Kimberly was joined in marriage to Scott West and his daughter Pamela was joined in marriage to Jimmie Walters. The girls' marriages provided Don and Marian with four grandchildren, whom they love. The family has so many great memories of Don, but the thing that resonates the most is the love and time he gifted to them all. Whether he was coaching softball teams for his girls or teaching the grandkids how to fish; everyone knew Don would be there.
After retirement Don never stopped working, and instead started finding new ways to fill his time. Raising cattle brought a newfound purpose to Don and kept his family's deep freezers filled. He loved teaching his grandchildren and his great grandbabies all of the hard work that went into taking care of the farm. Don enjoyed working out in his shop and tinkering on "fixer up" projects but was also a craftsman of woodworking and was meticulous on the projects he worked on. Don touched many lives in his time here and loved to meet new people and share his faith in Christ. He always loved to meet his friends in town and have breakfast at Braum's and Boomerang on the regular. Don loved all of these things but what he loved the most was starting his mornings on the back porch with his coffee and the love of his life, Marian.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ellen and Guy King; Brothers, Jimmy Wilson, Tom Wilson; Sisters, Jeanne Trump, Marie Hartgrave, Treva Foster, and Diane Clements.
Don is survived by his wife, Marian King; Brother, Robert Wilson of Branson, MO; Children, Kim and Scott West of Jenks, Okla., Pam and Jimmie Walters of Cushing, Okla., Terry Reed, his son adopted son later in life.
