Dorothy May Helvy passed from this life on August 7, 2022, at her home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK.

Dorothy was born on April 19, 1952, to Cleo and Georgie (Cunningham) Pittser. As a little girl, she loved animals and that love of animals continued on into her adulthood. One of her favorites being her Siamese cat, Prissy.
Dorothy and Charley Helvy Jr. had four children, Charley III, Shelby, Trish, and Clayton. Later Dorothy and Martin Derr had one daughter, Tessica. Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her grandchildren. She enjoyed working on puzzles, making breakfast along with her pineapple upside down cakes, working in her yard doing gardening, planting flowers and just being with nature. Her love of birds and windchimes made her garden even more special. She also collected many ceramics, many of those being salt and pepper shakers.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Shelby Helvy.

She will be greatly missed by those she left behind including her children Charley III, Trish Helvy, Clayton Helvy and Tessica Matheny along with her eight grandchildren Ginny, Audree, Shelby, Cody, Ellie-Mae, Makaila, Jessica and Arianna.

There will be a come and go celebration of life for Dorothy from 5 – 8PM on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing. The family will be present to greet friends.
