Dorothy L. Lewis / Pinson

Doris (Dorothy) was born November 6, 1926 to Martha Roles Carmichael and Charles Burton Carmichael in Pawnee, Oklahoma.  Dorothy was the youngest of eight children.  She was baptized in July 1939 by Bro. Clarence Hall into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Cushing, Ok.

Dorothy and Dick Lewis were married by the justice of the peace in Stillwater, OK on June 8, 1943 with Kenneth and Ethel Rodgers standing up with them.  The next day Dick returned to camp in Wisconsin while Dorothy stayed and worked at the Cushing Laundry.  Their first house was in Cortez, CO but Dick and Dorothy lived many places serving the Lord and going where they felt God led them.

Dick and Dorothy always wanted children and while living in Redding, CA God put it in the heart of a woman to give them her 3 month old, 10 lb. son, who they named Johnie.  Johnie married Elaine on December 23, 1977 and gave them three grandchildren Cheryl, Johnie Lee who died at birth, and Christi.  Dick and Dorothy cared for Cheryl for several years when she was young and Dorothy always told people she was half hers.

After losing Dick in 1988, Dorothy met Claude Pinson at he senior citizens in Chandler, OK.  They were married in December 1990 by Bro. Johnny McCoy at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Agra, OK.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands Dick Lewis and Claude Pinson, her parents Martha Roles and Charles Burton Carmichael; brothers Roy Carmichael, Orville Carmichael and Port Carmichael; sisters Rosa Corter, Lena Newport, Clara Belle Neal, and Amy Rodgers; also grandson Johnie Lee.

Dorothy is survived by her son Johnie Lewis and wife Elaine, two grandchildren Cheryl and Christi, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Dorothy L. Pinson,  passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Linwood Nursing Home, Cushing, Ok at the age of 92.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Parkland, OK.  Interment will follow at Flynn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
