Edgar William Overacker, longtime Stillwater resident passed from this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Edgar was born on August 27, 1947, in Visalia, California to parents Omer and Eithel (Rossiter) Overacker. He grew up in the Visalia & Farmersville, California area. In his 20's he moved to Welling, Oklahoma where he met Gail Holmes. They fell in love and were married on December 28, 1973, by Brother Alan Moss. Together they faced life's ups and downs until death parted them last June after 48 years together. Their union was blessed with one son, Mark in 1982. Edgar was baptized in the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn along with his wife on June 3, 1984. The family lived in Welling, OK for 13 years before moving to Alturas, CA for 8 years; finally settling in Stillwater, OK in 1996.

Edgar was a devoted husband, father, and provider. He worked many different jobs including Forest Ranger, Heavy Equipment Operator, and as a Recycler at MerCruiser in Stillwater. After retirement he helped his son Mark with his lawn mowing business. They were a tight-knit family throughout the years and were rarely apart from one another. One of Mark's fondest memories was the three of them sitting on the front porch drinking hot chocolate and coffee together.

Edgar is preceded in death by his wife Gail; his parents; and siblings, Francis and Barbara.

He is survived by his son Mark of the home; siblings, Harold and wife Shirley Overacker, Mary Turner, and Lonnie and wife Patricia Overacker as well as many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing. Family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to greet friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the Church of the Firstborn, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery.
