Edward "Eddie" F. Vickers was born on December 27 th , 1950 in San Bernardino, CA. He passed from this life on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at his home in Cushing with his family by his side at the age of 71.
Eddie was a graduate of San Bernardino High School and went on to attend Valley College earning a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts.
He entered the U.S. Army on October 29 th , 1971 and was stationed in Germany as a military police and dog trainer. He earned the National Defense Service medal, sharp shooter with a rifle, M-16 and expert with a 45 caliber pistol medals as well. Eddie received a great honor by being petitioned by the CIA while serving. After his military service, he went on to Cal State University to earn several more degrees.
Eddie owned and operated a landscaping service in San Bernardino until moving to Oklahoma in 2006 to reside with his immediate family. He enjoyed being outdoors, golfing and gardening. He was an avid bowler, scoring 300 several times. He was "Uncle Eddie" to not only his own nieces and nephews, but countless others, being the only one that could "pull a banana out of their ears" over the phone.
Eddie is survived by his Mother, Yvonne Vickers of Cushing; Sisters Michelle Gleason and husband Ron of Cushing; Jeanette Shelton and husband Jim of Cushing, Tia Jackson and husband Mark of Cushing; and brother Steve Vickers and wife Lezlee of Sapulpa. Nieces and Nephews Carey and Aaron Collier, Justin and Jake Shelton, Tyler and Megan Jackson, Zach Hebensperger, and Tawni Vickers, along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Dean Vickers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 3pm on Friday, January 14 th at Euchee Valley Memorial Park.
