Ethel "Lorene" (Reedy) Carmichael passed away at her home in Enid, Oklahoma, on August 23, 2024, at the age of 78.
Lorene was born on December 26, 1945, in Parkland, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of (Doc) Melvin E. and Gusta Ann (Hale) Reedy. She grew up on the farm in the Parkland area and enjoyed being accompanied by her two dogs Collie and Tuffy, while riding her horses and milking and tending cattle.
She attended the Parkland/Agra school system and graduated from Agra High School in 1963. After graduating from high school, Lorene was an employee of Soda Jerk and Jon Dahl Oil Company both of Chandler along with the Gibble Gas Company of Cushing, Oklahoma.
Lorene was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on July 7, 1965, by Bro Louis Wright in Parkland and was faithful til her passing.
She was joined in marriage to Hubert Carmichael on September 17, 1988, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Lorene became the mother of a daughter and son from her husband Hubert's previous marriage. She was a good mother, kind, nurturing and always there to listen. She fit in with the family and became an inseparable and valuable part of it.
Lorene loved to travel across the country with her husband on the motorcycle attending different church assemblies and making many friends and precious memories with the brethren along the way. Lorene loved to socialize. She did not know a stranger; she had a big heart.
Lorene loved to play and attend sporting events especially during family reunions, and any event that pertained to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lorene's greatest joy aside from serving the Lord was being a Grandma and Great Grandmother to her grandkids. She loved supporting them in their activities, having them in her home and most of all being their friend.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Gusta Reedy; brothers, Melvin Reedy Jr. and Louie Reedy.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Hubert Carmichael; one brother, Billy Reedy and wife Wilda of Agra, Oklahoma; special sister and longtime friend (aka besties forever her words) Phylis Hale of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; daughter, Holly Castor and husband Marvin of Enid, Oklahoma; son, Dustin Carmichael and wife Nancy of Enid, Oklahoma; grandkids, Kia Castor and wife Lacey of Vici, Oklahoma, Kaleena Querry and husband Alex of Enid, Oklahoma, Keona Jackson and husband Kaleb of Agra, Oklahoma, Cable Carmichael of Purcell, Oklahoma, Calden Carmichael of Dewitt, Arkansas, and Camry Carmichael of Enid, Oklahoma; great grandkids, Shade, Sahara, Treble, Safari, and Trek Castor, Mesa, Valley and Acre Querry, and Boone Jackson, along with many other relatives, friends, family and brethren. She will be greatly missed.
In leui of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Enid, Oklahoma.
