Obituary

Floyd Wayne Wittman, 64, passed from this life on Monday, September 26, 2022, at his home in Cushing, Oklahoma.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Wayne was born on October 8, 1957, in Tulare, California to proud parents Bobby Gene and Jewel (Wilson) Wittman. He grew up in Tulare attending school in Templeton, California. After graduation he lived in Bakersfield for many years working in construction and the oilfield. On April 27, 1996, he was united in marriage to Paula Medcalf in Lake Tahoe, California. Together they made many lifelong friends in Fresno, attending Northeast Assembly of God and New Joy Assembly of God.

Wayne was known by many in Fresno as the "Bread man" because of his ministry on Motel Drive in Fresno.  He served in that ministry for many years collecting bread from local bakeries and delivering it to the homeless and those in need.  He never missed an opportunity to share the gospel with each one and led many to Christ.  Many Thanksgivings were spent serving dinner to those who otherwise would have gone without.  Wayne loved the Lord and spent time daily reading the bible before his health declined. Upon moving to Cushing in 2021 to be closer to his sister, Wayne and Paula attended Lifeline Assembly of God in Cushing and made many friends there.

If you knew Wayne, you knew he loved his Harley and going on rides for "throttle therapy." He loved baseball, specifically the Chicago Cubs and watched MLB for hours. While in high school he was a talented baseball player and was being scouted by professional teams before he was injured and could no longer play. If it wasn't baseball season, he was cheering on the Green Bay Packers, a dedicated "cheese head."

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Lonnie Medcalf.

He is survived by his wife Paula of the home; son, Bobby Wayne and wife Natalie Wittman of Bakersfield, CA; sisters, Charletta Kay and husband Don Hobbs of Cushing, OK, and Judy Carol Mathis of Clovis, CA; grandchildren, Bobbi Wittman and Billi Wittman; stepson, Neal Martin and children; nieces, Sara Mathis, Jessica Mathis, and Julie Collins; mother-in-law, Judy Medcalf of Cushing, OK; and many extended family and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the American Legion Post 108 at 214 South Noble Ave, Cushing, Oklahoma.
