Obituary

Frances Kaye Matheny Burrow was born May 28, 1940, in Yale, Oklahoma to parents Richard Benjamin Matheny and Virgie Hatcher Matheny.  She passed from this life on May 1, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale.

Frances attended all 12 years of school at Yale, graduating with the Class of 1958 (the same school her mother graduated from in 1928). She attended Hill's Business School earning a Junior Accounting Diploma.  She worked in various credit offices until she married Charles Lee Burrow on May 23, 1970. After Charles' death, she earned 33 college hours at OSU.  She then attended Central Vo-Tech in Drumright, OK earning a Secretarial Certificate.  She spent 18 years working as a secretary in Residential Life at OSU retiring in 2002.

Frances was saved at the age of 9, and was baptized June 10, 1950, in the First Baptist Church of Yale, OK. She belonged to various Baptist churches throughout her life depending on where she was living at the time.  She was a member of Piedmont First Baptist Church when she left this life.

On March 19, 2009, Frances moved to the Baptist Village Communities in Oklahoma City where she was living at the time of her death.  She was active there, participating in meals off campus and special events held both on and off campus.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Glenn Richard Burrow; stepson, John Burrow; stepdaughter, Connie Miller; and sister, Carroll Beth Smith.

Survivors include her stepdaughter, Evelyn Burrow Graham; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; one brother, Duane Matheny and wife Colleen; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A Private Family Burial was held for Fran on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Lawson Cemetery in Yale, Oklahoma.  A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
