Franklin Harold
"Pete" Deeds
March 28, 1930 – January 18, 2020
Franklin Harold "Pete" Deeds, 89, a native and resident of Oilton, Oklahoma returned to his heavenly home on January 18, 2020 after a short, valiant battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle, as he knew "the best was yet to come".
Franklin was born to Franklin P. and Gracie Deeds in Oilton, Oklahoma on March 28, 1930. He attended Oilton High School, and joined the Army in 1948. After returning home from being stationed in Japan after World War II, Franklin began his life long career in the oil and gas industry. His career spanned over sixty years, with more than thirty of those years working with Baker Oil Tools, as even after his official retirement, Franklin continued to work on projects for them. He was a problem solver who took on difficult and unwanted projects and managed them with ease. Franklin attended Yale Assembly of God since returning to Oilton nearly twenty years ago and eagerly attended church each Sunday. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge, and just prior to his death, received a 50-year member milestone.
Franklin was a devoted father, husband, brother and friend, and an avid traveler and "tinkerer" in all things mechanical and garden related. When not traveling, one could find him working in his yard or in his workshop "fixing something". His travels took him to five continents, and he passed on his love of travel to his beloved daughter Mary Ann. When asking Franklin what he felt to be his greatest achievement, he would always respond "My ability to work hard and provide for my family."
Franklin is survived by his wife of five years, Colleen Geyer Deeds; his daughter Mary Ann Deeds-Davis and son in law, Matt Davis of Houston, Texas; his stepson that he happily raised, Johnny Johnson and long-time girlfriend Jackie Freeman of Cushing Oklahoma; his brother Kenneth Deeds and wife Saundra Deeds of Oilton, Oklahoma; his brother Earnie Deeds of Moore, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Franklin P. Deeds and his mother Gracie Deeds of Oilton, Oklahoma; his brother, Manuel Deeds of Sunnyside, Washington; his sisters: Nadine Robinson, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Pauletta Deeds, Juanita Deeds, and Rosamary Deeds all of Oilton, Oklahoma. He is also predeceased by Betty Diane Deeds, the mother of his daughter MaryAnn and step son, Johnny.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
A celebration of Franklin's life will be held at 11am, Friday, January 24, 2020 in the pavilion at Highland Cemetery EO645 Road, Oilton, Oklahoma and will be officiated by his Pastor, Randall Newbie of Yale Assembly of God. A private interment of his ashes will be held directly after the memorial service.
The family would like to thank the staff of OSU Medical Center and Clarehouse for their compassionate, kind, world-class care of Franklin in his last days.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Clarehouse 7617 S Mingo Rd, Tulsa, OK 74133 www.clarehouse.org so that they may continue their mission to house, and provide comfort to those in their last days and their families in a beautiful, calm and peaceful environment.
