Obituary

It's not goodbye but so-long Fred Leon Reed, born September 27, 1944. He continued his eternal journey on July 8, 2024.

Fred was affectionately known to many of us as Frog or Freddy. His ornery and playful disposition was apparent throughout his daily life. Fred's journey through life was marked by his vibrant personality, unwavering kindness, and the many ways he touched our lives. Although It may have been difficult to get him to share his cookies or deer jerky. He was a husband, son, father, brother, uncle and grandfather with many loved ones that knew they could always count on him.

Fred, or Freddie as many called him, was a man who wore many hats and loved his cowboy hats. In his lifetime, he was a butcher at Ralph's packing plant for 18 years, an oilfield worker and farmer. If anything needed done, he could do it. Although Fred didn't have much formal education, he was a good ole cowboy that acquired many skills and had knowledge that is acquired by few. Whether he was a friend, a family member, or a neighbor, he carried a warmth that made everyone feel special.

He loved doing many things, playing his guitar or singing at church was among his favorites. His laughter was infectious, his stories were captivating, and his heart was as big as the sky. He was a beloved figure, known for his unique perspective on life. He had a knack for seeing the world through a lens of humor and wisdom, and he shared this gift generously. He made us laugh when we needed it most and offered sage advice when we were lost. Fred's kindness extended far beyond his immediate circle.

He was always ready to lend a hand, offer a word of encouragement, or simply be there when someone needed a friend. His legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering support for those he cared about.

As we remember Fred today, let's celebrate the many ways he enriched our lives. Let's honor his memory by carrying forward the lessons he taught us: to love deeply, to laugh often, and to live life with an open heart. Fred Leon Reed, Frog, Freddy – by whatever name you knew him, he was a remarkable soul who left an indelible mark on all of us. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit lives on in the time we shared, the memories we cherish, and the love we continue to feel. Rest in peace, dear Fred. You will be forever missed and never forgotten. As he would say, this is not goodbye but so-long until we meet again.
