Garland Ross Howard, a longtime Perkins resident, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at his home in Perkins at the age of 74. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, Perkins, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Perkins, Oklahoma.
Garland was born on November 5, 1946 in Oklahoma City to the late Norman Ross and Carrie Louella (Baird) Howard. He grew up in Stillwater, driving to Oklahoma City with his dad every day to attend school at Northeast High School, graduating in 1966. Garland learned to Upholster at Goodwill Industries then began working for Advanced Interiors in Oklahoma City for many years. Garland began an Upholstery business in Perkins where he was able to work for himself and take care of many customers in and around Perkins. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Perkins. Garland loved O.S.U. all the way, attending many games over the years. He also helped with the food bank in Cushing for a few years. Garland enjoyed teasing and pestering people, taking care of his beloved puppy "Bailey" and being a good brother to his sister Lynda.
Garland is survived by his sister Lynda of Perkins, close friends Lorainne Green, Della Blackburn and numerous church friends and other friends. Cousins Carol Bowles, David Holcombe, and Sheila Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and cousin Wilma Smith.
