Obituary

Gerald D Jackson 51, passed from this life on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at his home.

Gerald was born January 13, 1971 in Sacramento, California to parents Gerald and Erma Jackson. Gerald's family moved from California to Oklahoma in about 1974. Eventually they moved to Agra for Gerald to start 3 rd grade in 1979. Gerald graduated from Agra High School in 1989.

On February 6, 1990 at Cushing, Oklahoma Gerald was baptized by Brother Dowe Pruitt into The General Assembly and Church of The Firstborn. It was this commitment that would guide and shape Gerald's choices and principles in all of his various vocations and commitments.

March 2, 1991 Gerald married the love of his life Lora Herrmann. Three children were born to this union: Blake, Katie, and Kaleb. All three married adding three more to the list: Kristal, Chandler, and Keona. In time Grandchildren Bonnie and Charlie were added.

There is a saying that goes "Two things always tell the truth: small children and yoga pants". When Gerald met children, they formed a bond. If you ever witnessed these interactions, you know about this.

Gerald loved his family, and they loved him. Gerald loved children, and children loved Gerald. There was no requirement of "blood lineage" with Gerald for him to consider a person as "Family". He was always willing and ready to be a friend and family to all. Gerald and Lora were truly "Given" to hospitality. If you spent any time with them at all, you know about this. It wasn't only about making sure everyone had a place to stay. They always made sure everyone felt welcome and tried to bring everyone together.

He worked at several vocations during his life: Cabinet building, Carpentry, Manufacturing, Roofing, and eventually in the Granite business. He started "The Granite Guy" in 1999 in Bro. Alva's milk barn and built an organization greatly respected in the community. With the help of The Lord, he created careers that provide a living for many families.

Gerald had a healthy sense of humor. Pranks happened such as going to someone's house and removing labels from all of the canned goods, putting things in the freezer that don't belong there, or rearranging the furniture. Gerald would get tickled and laugh at the mention of these pranks, regardless of being receiver or perpetrator.

He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, being outdoors hunting, fishing, or four wheeling, and making the best popcorn.

Gerald also knew when it was time to be serious. If you found yourself in a bind you knew you could count on Gerald to do what he could to help. Many times he would just show up and do what needed to be done without anyone knowing he did it.

Gerald is survived by his Wife Lora, his Children: Blake and Kristal Jackson, Katie and Chandler McNeill, Kaleb and Keona Jackson, Mother: Erma and husband Joe Rhodes, Sisters: Kim and Jim Pruitt, Karey and Brent Wright, Amy and Pat Miller, and Amber Steele, Brother Justin Levi Jackson, as well as many extended family and friends.

Gerald is preceded in death by his Dad Gerald Jackson Sr., his Mother and Father in law Alva and Janice Herrmann, Sister in law Terri Ann Herrmann, and Great Nephews Ian Griffith, Dawson Herrmann.
