Glen Britton passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the age of 84. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2019 at the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Perkins, Ok. Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Glen was born on October 22, 1935 in Avery, Oklahoma to the late John Vernon and Eula Glendola (Byers) Britton. He grew up in the Agra area where he attended school. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany as a crane operator loading ships.
He met the love of his life Sherlie Romine in Agra, they were married on April 12, 1959 at the Agra First Baptist Church, Agra, Ok. They attended the Perkins Church of the Firstborn. He worked in construction for many years. Glen also served on the Fire Department, a former Marshal, former Mayor of Agra and member of the American Legion. He was a very generous man, would give the shirt off his back if asked. Glen loved his children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. He enjoyed fishing and wrestling. Glen loved listening to Sherlie sing. He was an amazing, kind and generous grandpa.
Glen is survived by his son Vernon Britton and wife Kristina of Agra, son-in-law Paul DeBase of Agra, siblings Lloyd Romine and wife Sheila of Stillwater, Darrell Romine and Rickie of Stillwater, Karla Phipps and James of Duncan, Lovis Seno of Stillwater, Patricia Payne of Cleveland, Pamela Hoover and Ralph of Stillwater, grandchildren Michael Vieyra, Timothy Vieyra, Lori Vieyra, Chasity Vieyra, Samantha Britton, John Britton, Jennifer Britton, Preston Britton, Eliah Britton, Gerald Britton, Jasmine Britton, 14 great grandchildren and one on the way, 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sherlie, his parents, daughter Jaunita Debase, siblings Billy Wayne Britton, Norma Jean Lynch and Mary Katherine Garcia.
