Herbert Joe Fox Jr., known affectionately as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Born on August 25, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska, Joe's warmth and resilient spirit were evident from his earliest days.

Joe's life was one marked by dedication and joy. He was raised in Omaha, where he completed his education, laying a strong foundation for his future. After receiving his high school diploma, Joe furthered his education, which equipped him with the skills and knowledge to embark on a fulfilling career. Joe's work ethic was evident from the age of 15. He spent many years at the Omaha packing house, embracing the rigors of working with livestock. His dedication to his job was unwavering, and he took immense pride in his contributions. Later, Joe brought his strong work ethic to the Cimarron Casino, where he served for 13 years. His final career chapter was at the Residence Inn by Marriott, where he worked alongside his daughter LaSharee as a cook, sharing his love for food with others.

Beyond his professional life, Joe was a man of many passions. He cherished the time spent with his beloved grandmother, Bonnie Rose, and held dear the moments shared with his family. Joe had a love for music that was contagious, and he could often be found playing cards and dominoes, or cooking and grilling for his loved ones. His culinary skills were only matched by the warmth and laughter that accompanied every meal. Family was the center of Joe's world.

He is survived by a loving and extensive family, including his son Antonio Martin of Omaha, NE; daughter LaSharee Clay and her husband Charles of Stillwater, OK; son Herbert Fox III of Cushing, OK, and daughter Rozche Martin of Stillwater, OK; Mother of his children Carmella Douglas; grandchildren Amir Martin, A'Miya Martin of Omaha, NE, Jairus Fox, Jaazaniah Cantley, Jhanaya Cantley, and ZaLaya Martin, all of Stillwater, OK. He also leaves behind his sisters Wilma Jean Wade and her husband Pearce of Chicago, IL; Bonnie Gross and her husband Terry of Chicago, IL; Betty A. Henderson of Chicago, IL; Minnie Alexander and her husband Pastor Harry of West Memphis, AR; Sharlynne Johnson and her husband Melvin of Chicago, IL; Ann Brizendine and her husband Chuck of Omaha, NE; and Annie Hodges and her husband Leonard of Las Vegas, NV. His younger brother Maurice Anthony Fox of Omaha, NE, also survives him. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Joe Fox and Wilma Lee Fox, as well as his grandparents, William and Bonnie Rose, and Joe and Harriet Fox.

Described by those who knew him best as loving, wise, and funny, Joe's presence was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a unique way of seeing the world that often brought a fresh perspective and a burst of laughter to any situation. As we remember Joe, a quote by the great poet Maya Angelou comes to mind: "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

Joe made everyone around him feel loved, valued, and full of joy. His legacy is one of compassion, laughter, and an unshakeable commitment to family. Herbert Joe Fox Jr.'s life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
