August 9, 1943 – February 13, 2019
Hildred M. Blankley passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Drumright with her daughter by her side.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Services will be at Elm Grove School at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, February 18, 2019. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. Hildred was born on August 9, 1943 to Leslie Bernard and Clara (Dolly) Lenora (Meyers) Castle in Burlington, Kansas. She grew up in Burlington, graduating from Burlington High School in 1961.
Hildred went on a blind date and fell head over in heels in love with Don Blankley. They married in 1962 and had four children: Dennis, Marsha, Laura, and Sherry.
They enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. She loved sharing her love for the great outdoors with her family. She also enjoyed reading and playing games on her tablet. Once Don retired from the Kansas Department of Transportation, he and Hildred traveled. They took the scenic routes to places like the Black Hills, the Grand Canyon and to Yellowstone. Together they took in all the views mother nature had to offer. Five years ago, Don and Hildred moved to Perkins, to be closer to family. Don would still take Hildred out on a daily drive for a couple of hours, so they could see different birds and the scenery together, often competing to see who saw the most wildlife.
Hildred was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Hildred is preceded in death by her husband, Don Blankley; two children, Dennis and Marsha Blankley; one son-in-law, Steven Moorman, sisters Bernadine Sue Castle and Betty Rose Smith and brother William (Bud) Bernard Castle.
Hildred is survived by two daughters, Sherry Moorman and Laura Moorman; sister Delores Ann Stanley, four grandchildren, Jessica Byram, Luke Moorman, Matt Moorman, and Jacob Moorman; eight great grandchildren, Alayna, Braylee, Caroline, Ember, Elizabeth, Abigail, Gunner, and Gentry.
