Hobart Dale Simpson, longtime Yale resident, passed from this life on Saturday, August 22, 2020 in Cushing with family by his side at the age of 80.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Lawson Cemetery Pavilion.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Due to Covid-19, we are encouraging people to wear masks during the visitation and funeral.
Hobart was born on January 26, 1940 to Wilma (Spears) and George Simpson in Yale, OK. He attended school in Quay graduating in 1958. Upon graduating, Hobart married Maxine (Elliott) on April 14, 1960 in Yale, OK. They moved to Stroud where he worked at Allied for 6 years. During that time they had three loving children together: Gordon, Brian, and Sandra. The family then moved back to Yale. After many years together, Maxine and Hobart separated, but remained good friends. Hobart married Beckey (Cable) in 1996 and spent 14 years together, before her passing.
Hobart worked many jobs throughout his life, with the longest of those being, Rockwell International and Police Chief in Yale. His true passion in life was helping others in need. While working for the Yale Police Department, Hobart spent 20 years as a volunteer Firefighter, many of those years as Fire Chief. In the 1970's, Hobart was part of the Payne County Sheriff's Posse as well as the Civil Defense Director of Yale.
Hobart was a caring and loving man. He loved watching his children grow up and teach them all he knew. His heart became full when he became a grandpa. His grandkids were the world to him. He was always loved and adored by his children, grandkids and his many nieces and nephews. His family was the best part of his life and he will be missed by them and all who knew him.
Hobart is survived by three children, Gordon Simpson and wife, Christina of Yale, Brian Simpson and wife, Karen of Yale, Sandra Mehan and husband, John of Stillwater; six siblings, Wynnonna Rist, Marjorie Kelly, Molly Dotson, Maxine Wolff, Keith Simpson, Kay Simpson-Smith; four grandchildren, Joshua Simpson, Dallas Simpson, Nathan Mehan, Haley Mehan; six great grandchildren, Levi Simpson, Camren Potter, Kinzie Potter, Kelsey Potter, Drake Simpson, Addison Simpson.
Hobart is preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Beckey Simpson, brother, Ray Simpson, sister Ann Raper, granddaughter Cassandra, brothers-in-law: Sherman, Pete, Raymond; sister-in-law, Dixie.
