in Schlegel, OK. He grew up and attended school in Olive, graduating in 1955.
After finishing high school, Hobert attended Oklahoma State University. He
worked toward a degree in Agricultural Science, before being drafted into the United States Army as a medic.
Hobert was introduced to the love of his life, Marian Joan Ashley by his sister Janie
Brooks at her wedding. They dated about a year and married on August 23, 1963,
at the Church of Christ in Okmulgee, OK. They would have celebrated their 60th
wedding anniversary this coming August. Hobert and Joan moved back to
Drumright after they were married and soon started their own family. They were
blessed with two boys Brent and Terry.
Hobert was a hard-working man. He worked as a welder in Tulsa and farmed after
getting off from his day job. He worked from sunup to sundown and was always
looking for his next project. He always raised cattle on his farm and most recently
had both cattle and sheep. From 1974 to the mid 1980's he owned and worked at
Hobert Lowe Feed Store in Drumright, Oklahoma. This was a family business and
his wife and boys spent many hours working together. He was a hard worker in
everything he did but he worked hardest in the kingdom of God, he would almost
always be the first to church services and spend countless hours with his bible and
song book in preparation for personal bible studies and corporate studies
including many years of working in the prison teaching there before going to the
regular services on Sunday mornings. Hobert was a lifelong active member of the
Church of Christ.
He was a kind and loving man always wearing a smile and is missed greatly.
