Hubert
Greenfield
September 28, 1938 – October 20, 2023
Laurence "Hubert" Greenfield was born September 28, 1938, to Estel and Bertha (Retherford) Greenfield in Chandler, Oklahoma. He passed from this life at his home on October 20, 2023, at the age of 85.
Hubert was raised around the Parkland/Agra area. He graduated from Agra High School in 1956. He was baptized at Parkland into The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on May 6, 1956, which was also his Dad's birthday. In 1959, at the 4th of July Meetings in Parkland, he met Mona Pryor who was from Indianapolis, Indiana. After a 6 week engagement, they were married on August 21, 1959 in Indianapolis.
After they were married, he brought his wife to live in the Parkland area. They spent almost two years in Oklahoma, and Berta was born during this time. They then moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where they were blessed with 3 more children, Brian, Keith and Kendra. In 1966, they moved to Cushing Oklahoma. Soon, they were blessed with 1 more child, Devin. Hubert and Mona enjoyed 52 years together until she passed away in 2012.
Hubert was raised on a farm starting at the age of 7. He learned to work hard, and he started driving a tractor at this young age. He was charismatic and rarely met a stranger. He was a motivator and almost always showed a happy and enthusiastic countenance. He was always encouraging his children and others to look at the brighter side of life.
He worked in many professions, although he was a salesman most of his life. Hubert and Mona worked in the cookware business for 35 years. Around 1970, he moved his young family to Northern Alabama. After 7 years, he moved his family back to Oklahoma to live around the brethren. They were top performers in the cookware business when they moved back to Oklahoma. He said God spoke to him and told him to move back among the brethren or his children would not know the Faith. This was a big financial sacrifice they were willing to make. After moving back, one by one God called all of his children into the Faith and now all thirteen of his grandchildren have been baptized.
He loved visiting and singing gospel songs with the brethren and traveling with his family. A few years before Mona passed away, they drove across Canada, to Alaska, and came back through Washington, Oregon and Idaho on their way to the Jackson Hole camp meetings. They visited all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, and several islands.
Hubert was preceded in death by his wife Mona; parents Estel and Bertha Greenfield; sisters Colleen Quinn, LaVerne Morris and Marilyn Greenfield; and sister-in-law Louise Greenfield.
He is survived by his children Berta Jackson of Stillwater, Brian and Nina of Glenpool, Keith and Dana of Mounds, Kendra and Phil Pruitt of Cushing and Devin and Davena of Yale; Grandchildren Skyler and Austin Ratliff of Glenpool, Carson and Tiah of Sapulpa, Ryan of Glenpool, Kimber of Mustang, Austin and Kendra of Edmond, Kelsie and Dakota Rackley of Bethany, Winston Pruitt of Edmond, April and Ethan Blake of Sapulpa, Seth and Autumn of Jennings, Ray and Taylor of Yale, Trenton and Isabella of Tulare, California, Carolyn of Yale, and Donna of Yale; 18 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Buford of Cortez, Colorado, Donnie and Hope of Enid, and Ronnie and DeLynn of Enid; 1 sister, Violet and Jim Clark of Wellston; nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
