Obituary

Ila Clyde Woods, fondly known by everyone as Clyde, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on August 2, 1946, in Shidler, Oklahoma, Clyde's zest for life and love for his family colored every aspect of his journey through his 79 years.

After attending Shidler High School, Clyde dedicated his youth to the nation by enlisting in the Air Force. His time in Okinawa as a jet mechanic was a point of personal pride and helped shape his strong work ethic. Returning to civilian life, he continued to embody diligence and skill as a bricklayer, a profession he excelled at until his well-deserved retirement.

Settling down at Lake Tenkiller, Clyde found tranquility and joy with his beloved wife, Rona (Loftis) Woods, by his side. Together, they shared serene days filled with gardening and birdwatching, creating a loving sanctuary that extended to all who knew them.

Clyde was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah Gwen, father, Floyd Woods, brothers, Jack Woods, Bill Woods, and Floyd Woods, his sister-in-laws, Elaine and Cindy Woods. His legacy continues through his immediate family: his adoring wife, Rona; their two daughters, Kimberly Richardson and her husband Jim, and Angela Gibson and her husband Daniel; and his cherished grandchildren, Yanscv Woods, Cody Wolniewicz, and Kaylea Gibson. Clyde's brothers, Darrell, Doug, Kim, and Mike Woods (and wife Connie), will keep his memory bright in their hearts.

The joys of his life included his days spent at the lake, where he reveled in fishing, hunting, water skiing, camping, and mushroom hunting. He also possessed a passion for unearthing old bottles, a testament to his curiosity and love for the outdoors. A devoted coach to his children and grandchildren, he supported and celebrated every basketball, baseball, and softball game with pride and enthusiasm.

An enduring fan of the sports teams he loved, Clyde relished every game of the OKC Thunder, OU and OSU Football, and never missed a match involving the Kansas City Chiefs or the Dallas Cowboys. To his family and friends, Clyde was more than just a sports enthusiast; he was a pillar of support, a man of integrity, and the embodiment of familial dedication.

While we grieve the loss of such a kind-hearted and exuberant man, we are comforted by the boundless memories Clyde has left us. In every sunset over Lake Tenkiller and every joyful family gathering, his spirit lives on. His was a life truly well-lived, leaving an imprint of love, loyalty, and warmth that will be forever treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Clyde's journey on earth may have reached its end, but his story will be recounted with smiles and admiration for generations to come.
