James "Jim" Robert Roll, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Drumright Regional Hospital with his wife by his side at the age of 86. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 11, 2021 at New Zion/Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Jim was born on April 13, 1935 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Clarence John and Billie Margaret (Vandever) Roll. He grew up and attended school in Cushing, graduating in 1953. Jim joined the U. S. Army Artillery and was stationed in Germany. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Lloyd on November 20, 1959 at the First United Methodist Church in Cushing. To this union, Jamie and Jonie were born. He worked for Midland Refinery and other refineries taking him to Wyoming and California for 20 years. Retiring in 1996 brought them back to Cushing where they grew up. While he was young, he enjoyed hunting but later in life enjoyed feeding the birds. They were members of the First United Methodist Church, and he served on the Cushing City Council and also the Girl Scout Board.
He will be missed by his family.
Jim is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Barbara Roll of the home, daughters Jamie Hughes and husband Allen of Montrose, CO, Jonie Roll and husband Duane Spickler of Bakersfield, CA, sisters Jean Schultz of Texas and Judy Disel and husband Tom of Ohio, grandchildren Airika Romsdahl and husband Richard, Shane Singer and wife April, Kelly Hughes, Rebecca Spickler and husband Emile Antonell, great grandchildren Sophie Romsdahl and Logan Singer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Mary Lou Roll and sister Margaret "Sue" Gaylor.
