Obituary

James Harold Stokes, Sr., passed from this life on Monday, July 15, 2024, at his home with family by his side at the age of 78.

Harold was born on November 25, 1945, to Tennie Estelle (Nobles) and Clarence William Stokes in Konawa, OK.  He was one of 9 siblings.

Harold enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean Conflict as a qualified Superior Sharpshooter on the M-14 rifle.  He ended his tour of duty, being honorably discharged in March of 1968 then remained in the Army Reserves until March of 1982.

Harold married the love of his life, Donna Louise (Thompson) on February 10, 1966.  Together, they raised four children: Jimmy, Tammy, James Jr., and Scotty.  Harold was a long haul truck driver.  He loved being out on the open road with Donna.

Harold loved spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies.  He will be missed by all.

Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Donna; both parents, Tennie Estelle and Clarence Stokes; two brothers, Paul and Dale; three sisters, Wilma, Louise, and Debby; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Stokes married to son James.

Harold is survived by four children, Jimmy and wife Rosie (Peyton) Stokes, Tammy (Stokes) and husband Josh Maxwell, James Stokes Jr., and Scotty Stokes.  Harold is also survived by seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two brothers Charles and Randy, and one sister Sue.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.  A private family service will be held at a later date.
