Obituary

Jimmie Eikenbary passed from this life on April 25, 2022, in Anchorage, Alaska with his son by his side.

Jimmie was born December 14, 1930, in Oilton, Oklahoma to parents Frank and Litha Eikenbary.  He was united in marriage to his wife Charlene in November of 1958. Their union was blessed with 5 children. He served in the Army during the Korean War as a medic. Jimmie enjoyed caring for his cattle and had a small pond where he fed his catfish every day.  He had a green thumb and could grow anything.   After the death of his wife, he moved to Anchorage, Alaska where he lived with his son and family.  During the past 16 years, he had a lot of experiences which include visiting the North Pole, Santa Clause House, and fed Santa's Reindeer. Jimmie loved to go fishing for King, Sockeye, and Coho Salmon in the World-Famous Kenia River. Every year he helped fill the freezer with many large Halibut during his many trips fishing in the Gulf of Alaska.  Jimmie camped in Denali National Park and experience a once in a lifetime viewing of a Sow Grizzly bear with her 3 cubs.   Jimmie panned for Alaskan Gold, walked on a glacier, and went four-wheeling in the back country. He took a cruise to Mexico where he swam with dolphins, let a large lizard sit on his shoulder, and kissed Buster the Donkey. He loved working in the yard tending the garden and spent many hours in late July picking raspberries; his record was 18 gallons. Jimmie loved life and his family.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife, Charlene.

He is survived by his children, Christine Lee-Hand and husband Tom of El Reno, OK, Pamela Birdsong and husband Tyrone of Killeen, TX, Jim Eikenbary and wife Julie of Anchorage, AK, Kay Jackson and husband Bob of Sapulpa, OK, and Dana Kelley and husband Michael of Oklahoma City, OK; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, one brother, Douglas Eikenbary of Barnsdall, OK; and many extended family members and friends.
