Jimmy
Cobb
April 24, 1942 – October 5, 2021
James "Jimmy" Cecil Cobb Jr. passed peacefully from this life at his home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Jimmy was born on April 24, 1942, in Oklahoma City to proud parents James Sr. "Ty" and Zelma (Hull) Cobb. He grew up in the south Oklahoma City area, graduating from Capital Hill High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served proudly at Ft. Sill in Lawton, OK. After his honorable discharge he worked for over 30 years for the U.S. Postal Service. Jimmy managed the Post Office adjacent to the Murrah Building, retiring after the bombing; his name can be found on the survivor wall of the memorial. Jimmy gave his hand to be baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn at the "Old Penn. Church" to his uncle, Brother Roy Covington. He sincerely loved the brethren and spent countless hours helping many of them with their projects through the years. Brother Jimmy was always glad to help, whatever the need. He loved to tinker and build; he was an avid "collector" of things. Without a doubt, one of his most favorite things to do was visit and travel amongst the brethren. He would load up whoever he could find to go with him, and if it was a grandkid chances are they would have to stop for some ice cream on the way home. Everyone felt like he was a member of their own family, and he will be deeply missed.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Sidney Cobb; and a grandson, Cameron Higgins.
He is survived by his children, Ginger Higgins, Rodney and wife Tanya Cobb, Eric Cobb, and Tyler Cobb; grandchildren, Mitchell and wife Laura Higgins, Preston, Hannah and Bradley Higgins, Jake Cobb, Kayden and husband Logan Holman, Carson and Blake Cobb; 4 great grandchildren; and many extended family, friends, and brethren he loved as his own.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Church of the Firstborn in Moore, Oklahoma (710 NE 27 th Street, Moore, OK, 73160).
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Church of the Firstborn in Parkland, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Parkland Cemetery.
