Jo Ann (Pruitt) Cargill, longtime Cushing resident, passed from this life on August 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020 at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel with Jeromye Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Flynn Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Jo Ann was born on August 8, 1930 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma to the late Henry and Treva (Coyner) Pruitt. She attended school at Soonerville school and then Cushing High School where she graduated in 1948.
Jo Ann married the love of her life John Albert Cargill on September 10, 1948. John Albert and Jo Ann had three loving daughters: Debra, Karen, and Dena. Jo Ann began working as a substitute cook at Sunnyside school and later became head cook at Hillside school where she served many children lunch everyday for a number of years. She loved starting off the new year at school and seeing all the new faces. Making an impact on many children's lives. Jo Ann and John Albert owned a dairy farm for many years and enjoyed working together on the farm. Lastly, Jo Ann worked for Wal-Mart as a cashier for 15 years, of course, knowing everyone that went thru her lines in check out. She was a member of the Church of the True Followers and occasionally attend the Assembly of God in Stroud with her grandchildren. Later in life, she cooked for the Lions Club and was loved by all of the Lions. Jo Ann enjoyed gardening and was a great cook – everyone enjoyed her cinnamon rolls. She was a very giving lady and loved to visit with everyone.
Jo Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Jo Ann is survived by her three daughters, Debra Ann Kimberlin of Cushing, Karen Teters and husband, John of Stroud, Dena Stallworth of Cushing; Jo Ann is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; sister Estelle Solomon; brothers Forest Pruitt, H. T. Pruitt and Bob Pruitt and two grandchildren, Brandin Wright and Lacy Teters.
