Joan Harper, former Cushing resident passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born March 29, 1930 to parents Ernest and Gladys (Tucker) Myers in Oklahoma City. Joan grew up in Cushing graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1947. She worked as a Nurse's Aide in Cushing then attended Nursing School in Oklahoma City at University Hospital. The family would then again make their home in Cushing as her husband, Verl Harper took a job in the oilfield. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church being raised attending there being on the baby roll. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and friend to many.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Verl; one son in law, Bill Blocker and one granddaughter Wren Harper.
She is survived by her children, Michael Harper and wife Linda of Huntington, AR, and Janet Blocker and husband Douglas Halfhill of Wichita Falls, TX; sister in law, Sue and husband Michael of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma. Online condolences may be shared at www.PalmerMarlerFH.com
