Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Fuchs, who left this world unexpectedly on July 4, 2026, while visiting his daughter and her family in Oklahoma. Born on September 25, 1961, in Elbert County, Colorado, John was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew him with his kindness and zest for life.

John was the cherished son of Robert and Joy Fuchs, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his sisters, Peggy and Penny. He is survived by his four children: Clayton, Nikki, Dillon, and Peggy, his older brother, Rob, and a legacy of many grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

A graduate of Elbert High School in 1979, John embarked on a life enriched by hard work and dedication. He began his career as a ranch hand, nurturing a deep connection with the land and animals. As his career progressed, he spent many years setting mobile homes before finding another calling as a heavy equipment operator, a role he excelled in for the past 10 years.

John's passions extended far beyond his professional life. He was a cowboy at heart, with a love for rodeoing growing up and all the way past his 40s that saw him competing in wild horse racing, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, team penning, and much more. His enthusiasm for draft horse pulling back in the day and his dedication to raising bucking bull stock were testament to his adventurous spirit. John also found joy in mentoring young cowboys with dreams of riding bulls and helping 4Hers throughout the years, where his supportive nature and leadership shone brightly.

Known for his magnetic personality, John was a man who drew people in with his natural character and generosity. He was a tough cowboy with a tender heart, always willing to lend a hand to those who needed it, particularly children and animals. His infectious laughter and ability to bring charm to any room made him the life of the party on countless occasions.

A celebration of John's life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Elbert Christian Church, located at 23894 Broadway St, Elbert, Colorado 80106. Family and friends are invited to share in this special moment of remembrance and gratitude for a life well-lived.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have offered condolences and support during this difficult time.

As we say our final goodbyes, we hold onto the memory of John, the cowboy who has ridden away, leaving behind a trail of love and laughter that will never fade.
