John William Martin, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 71.   A private family Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.

John was born on September 2, 1949 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late William "Buddy" and Willeen (Fountain) Martin.  He grew up in Shamrock, Oklahoma, graduating from Drumright High School in 1967.   He was in the Air National Guard for six years.   John worked for Pepsi then began working for AT&T for the next 36 years, retiring to spend time with his family.  John married the love of his life Sheila McFarlin on May 30, 1985 in Sherman, Texas.  He enjoyed spending time at the beach, playing golf, watching OU Sooners and his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys.  John loved spending time with his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His eyes lite up when his grandchildren came over to visit.

He is survived by his wife Sheila of the home, daughters Andrea Caldwell and husband Sean of Broken Arrow, Jennifer Martin and Tracy Heine of Cushing, grandchildren Ryan Hanson, Adam Hanson and Maci Heine, great grandchildren Payten, Kaiden and Jordan.

John was preceded In death by his parents, and brother James Martin.
