John was born on August 3, 1951, to Ruth E. (Laughlin) and Anthony G. "Tony" Mueggenborg in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the oldest of five children.
John began his education in the Quay (Oklahoma) Public Schools transferring to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School for six years. John returned to Quay Public Schools for his high school years. In 1968, the Quay schools were consolidated with Yale (Oklahoma) Public Schools where he graduated as Vice President of the Senior Class of 1969. He also played basketball for YHS and was very active in FFA. His admiration for his AgEd instructor, Ferlan Dean, led him to Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Education in 1973. He also attended Kansas State University to begin studies for a Master's Degree.
John was united in marriage to Linda Kay Martin, in February 1969. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born. Although the marriage ended in divorce, John and Linda remained great friends and co-parented their daughters. John married Crystal Sharon Turner in August 1981. The marriage ended in divorce after thirty years.
John began his teaching career in Downs (Kansas) returning to Oklahoma to teach in the Aline-Cleo Public Schools.
John returned to his beloved Payne County to join his brother, Lewis V. Mueggenborg, in the farming and ranching business. The brothers at one time would have 1000 head of cattle in addition to their other business interests, including Black Cat Oil Company, Sod Laying Company, Stillwater Christmas Tree Lot, and over thirty J & L Fireworks Stands across Oklahoma.
John had many interests while on this Earth. He loved to host fish fries for his friends and family, playing poker, watching football and basketball games, going to horse races, casinos, fishing and especially loved pheasant hunting in Kansas. John began racing pigeons after the daughters left for college. He would always laugh and say, "They come back home when they were supposed to and didn't talk back!" He won many trophies with his Circle "M" Loft birds at Shamrock RPC, Stillwater RPC, Jennings Pigeon Club, Tulsa Oil Capital RPC, and Keystone Pigeon Racing Club. His greatest joys were always his children and grandchildren. He loved taking his pigeons to the grandchildren's school to show the students the birds flying out of the cages. He shared his love of fishing and hunting, taking the grandchildren to Lake Texoma, Beaver Lake and Lake Keystone. He loved leasing a limousine to take his daughters and granddaughters to the Oklahoma City Thunder games.
