Obituary

John David Turpin, a man of deep faith and boundless selflessness, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, in Tryon, Oklahoma. Born on Christmas Eve of 1962 in Oklahoma City, John lived a life marked by love, dedication, and intelligence, touching the hearts of all who knew him.

John's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Carney Public Schools, where he not only received his education but also formed the foundation of his strong character. He carried the values of hard work and commitment throughout his life, which were evident in his professional journey. John was known for his skilled hands as a bricklayer, a trade that he mastered with both precision and artistry. His work ethic extended to his time at Walmart and Agra Public Schools, where he was respected by colleagues and community members alike.

A devout Christian, John was an active member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. He was baptized into the faith on March 18, 1982, by brother Henry McFarlin. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him in every decision and action. He found joy in playing guitar, often gracing his church and family gatherings with music that uplifted the spirits of all present.

John's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Carol Sue Turpin, and their three children: David Turpin, Deborah Robinson, and Joshua Turpin. His love and teachings will live on through his three siblings: Sharon Turpin, Tim Turpin, and Eddie Turpin. The light of his life shone brightly upon his grandchildren, who will continue to walk in the path of kindness and generosity he paved for them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Marie and John D. Turpin, his grandparents, James and Mary Lunney, and his sister, Sharon, whose memories remain a cherished part of the family's history.

John's intelligence was not just in his mind but in his actions. He had an innate ability to understand and care for others, always placing the needs of his family and friends above his own. His selfless nature was a beacon of hope and a testament to his character.

In his final days, John told his wife that him and God both knew that Sue went above and beyond to meet his needs. He was so thankful!

As we bid farewell to John David Turpin, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of purpose, love, and unwavering faith. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will continue to inspire us every day. John's journey on earth may have concluded, but his story will be told for generations to come, as an example of a life beautifully lived.
