Obituary

With heavy hearts we say farewell to our dear brother, friend, father and grandfather Jose Vasquez. Born April 24, 1972, in Del Rio, Texas to Rito and Erminia Vasquez. Jose passed away on January 21, 2026.

Jose's strong work ethic started from a young age working in vegetable and cotton fields. Moving from Texas to Washington and finally settling in Oklahoma. Jose graduated from Cushing High School in 1990. Jose started working with his dad painting oil storage tanks and traveling the U.S. Wanting to stay closer to home, Jose started working in woodworking.

An avid learner and perfecting his woodworking skills, Jose spent the last 20 plus years working for Kurtz Shutters and sharing his knowledge. During this time, he became a father to Tori and Jackson. His love and pride for them was unwavering and never ending. Bringing a smile to his face with every story and anecdote he told about them. Always encouraging in their endeavors and sympathetic to their trial, Jose was truly the best dad. An even bigger sparkle came to his eyes when he became a grandpa to Stevie and Charlie.

Jose loved the outdoors hunting, camping and drives in his Jeep were his favorite. Most of all he was his happiest being with family. Cookouts were his specialty. But if you told him about an event he made every effort to be there, from T-ball games and school plays to birthday parties and graduations. Jose took great pride in seeing you succeed.

Words cannot express how much he will be missed. Although we were not prepared for his passing, we are prepared to keep our memories with him going. We remember his generosity and kindness to others, his passion for life, and above all, his love and friendship to each of you.

Preceded in death by his parents Rito Sr. and Erminia Vasquez. Jose leaves behind a daughter Tori Ingraham and son Jackson Vasquez; Brothers Rito Vasquez Jr. and wife Angela, Juan Vasquez and wife Becky; A sister Raquel Short and husband Kevin; Nieces and nephews Julia Short, Nicolas Vasquez, Kayla Vasquez, Jonathan Vasquez, Lucas Vasquez and Eva Rose Short; Numerous family and friends.
