Long time Cushing resident, Kenneth L. Hixon, passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 2nd, 2020 at the age of 83. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 6th, 2020 at the Crossroads Community Church, 52787 Highway 51, 74038. Interment will follow at Harrell Cemetery, Cushing, OK. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Palmer Marler Funeral, Cushing, OK. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing OK.

Kenneth was born August 2, 1936 in Cushing, OK to proud parents Elmer and Lena (Adams) Hixon.  Ken spent his entire life in Cushing. He enjoyed the class of 1955 reunions.  Kenneth married the love of  his life Laura Alice (Margie) Morton, on June 1st, 1956, to this union Connie and Ronnie were born.  They made their home in Cushing where Kenneth worked in the oilfield and then was a mechanic for Roy Bettis and later Ford garage.  Kenneth then worked for Midland/ Refinery for 20 years. Upon the closing of the refinery Kenneth worked for Lincoln County Rural Water District 2.  In retirement Kenneth found his calling and worked for Palmer Marler funeral home where he was a friend and comfort to many.

Kenneth's legacy is the love he had for God and his family.  He was an example to us all on what it means to be Christlike. He was proud of the fact that four generations of  Hixons attended the Cushing Church of God where he served for many years.  The past 20 years he was a member and elder of the Crossroads Community Church.

Kenneth (Pap) is survived by his wife Laura (Gran) of 63 years, his daughter Connie Whitehead and husband Rodney, his son Ronnie Hixon and wife Claudette. Grandchildren, Jeremie Niccum and wife Kara, Amie (Niccum) Schneider and husband Drew, Vicki (Hixon) Wood and husband Charlie, Valari (Hixon) Hayes and husband Keith. Ashley (Whitehead) Smith and husband Nate, Taylor (Whitehead) Johnson and husband Johnny, Billy Whitehead and wife Elizabeth, Dakota Whitehead.  Great grandchildren Gavin Wood, Brandon Anderson, Jacob Schneider, Peyton Wood, Lillian Hayes, Cailin Schneider, Alaina Niccum, Junia Hayes, Tanner Niccum, Charlotte Hayes and many extended family members and dear friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers Dennis, Harold, Dale and Jerry and his six sisters Dorothy, Judy, Anita, Wilma, Joy and Carol.
