Obituary

Kenneth Thompson, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 in the Drumright Nursing Home at the age of 87 years.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel, Cushing, OK. Burial will be held in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.

The son of the late John Thompson and Addie (Fletcher) Thompson, Kenneth was born on February 17, 1926 in Yale, OK. He was reared and educated in the Oklahoma City and Cushing area. Kenneth entered into the United States Army serving during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge Kenneth returned to Cushing.

Many will remember Kenneth from his time working as a mechanic or driving a school bus for the Cushing Public Schools. He also drove a truck for North American Van Line. Kenneth loved spending time with his friends and family but also loved volunteering for the civil defense.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie Hagler of Cushing and Richard Thompson of Cushing; two daughters, Sharon Thompson of Cushing and Brenda Davis of Cushing; one sister, Beatrice Mooreland of Drumright; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by one daughter, Kay Thompson.
