Obituary

Laurence "Ray" Greenfield was born on January 19, 1994, to parents Devin and Davena (Sloate) Greenfield in Yale, Oklahoma.  Ray passed from this life at his parents' home in Yale, OK on October 1, 2024 in the arms of his dear wife.

Ray was raised in Yale, OK. On June 13, 2007 he was baptized into The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by his Dad. He was homeschooled through high school, graduating in 2012 having earned around 30 college credits. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in finance in 2016.

In 2013, Ray met Taylor Fisher. He was so shy around girls, Taylor thought he didn't like her. They eventually started dating, and after 7 months they were married on August 2, 2014. Their first home was in Yale, directly behind the house where Ray was born. In 2015, they were blessed with their first girl, Emberlyn LaRae. They moved to Agra, Oklahoma in 2016. In 2018, their second daughter, EmmyLou Jean was born. In 2020 they moved back to Yale, Oklahoma, into the house where Ray was born. In 2023, their son, Tex Kutcher, was born.

Being a very ornery person, Ray seemed to always know how to push people's "buttons". As a young boy, he helped talk his brother Trenton into jumping from a tree with a bungee cord connected to a belt loop (spoiler alert: the belt loop broke), grab an electric fence (a shocking experience), and many other "fun" activities. He also promoted the concept of not doing school. He told his brother Seth if they could make their mom cry before lunch, they would not have to do school. He was sometimes successful in this effort.

He was entertaining and funny. He loved being the center of attention and wanted to be a part of all activities. He had a very contagious laugh. When he laughed, even if something wasn't funny, people heard his jolly, joyful laugh and couldn't help but to laugh with him.

The "Faith" was very important to Ray. From the time he was baptized, he pursued knowing more about God. He would read the Bible often, visit with others about the Bible and how to live for God, and tried to encourage and build up people in the Faith. He started preaching the Word of God at an early age, having his first revival church meetings with Bro. Michael Ude at the young age of 16. Over the following years, he gave out church meetings in 27 churches across 6 states, laboring in the Word with at least ten other ministers. His desire was to help and encourage God's people.

Anyone around Ray knew that he loved his family. He would go with them to rodeos, softball and basketball activities, or just to camp out. He often spoke of his wife as an "amazing" woman. During his time of sickness, he found much comfort and strength from her.

Ray enjoyed many different occupations which included: food service, working in construction, doing financial books, working for Payne County Bank, doing paint touch-ups through Doctor's Touch, selling funeral insurance, assisting at Palmer Marler Funeral Home and completing his career as Chief Financial Officer of The Drywall Crew.

Ray was preceded in death by his grandparents Hubert and Mona Greenfield, his grandpa David Sloate, his aunt Donna (Sloate) Flora and her husband Ralph, his uncle Adam Sloate, his aunt Berta (Greenfield) Jackson and her husband Kenny.

Ray is survived by his wife Taylor Greenfield and their children Emberlyn, Emmylou and Tex Greenfield of Yale, OK; his Grandma Erma Sloate of Ripley, OK; his parents Devin and Davena Greenfield of Yale, OK; his siblings Seth Greenfield and wife Autumn of Jennings, OK, Trenton Greenfield and wife Bella of Jennings, OK, Carolyn Greenfield of Jennings, OK and Donna Greenfield of Yale, OK; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
