Laurene Jane Teter passed away on December 15, 2023, in Cushing, Oklahoma. She went peacefully and felt no pain. Her care has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma.
Laurene was born on June 12, 1941, in Burlington, Iowa, to parents Laurence and Anne (O'Connor) Parker. She was the youngest of five children.
She moved to Alameda, California, in the 1940's when her father was stationed at the Naval Air Station. She graduated from college at San Francisco State with a Bachelors Degree and California teachers credentials. She moved to Texas after getting married and returned to school to get her Library Scicen Degree at Texas Women's University.
She taught at W.A. Porter and was a librarian at Richland and Haltom High School but spent most of her career at Haltom. You could also find her working at North Richland Hills Public Library in the children's or research departments. She had a wealth of knowledge. She loved her family and would hang the moon for her children and grandchildren; she was cherished by her students and had a heart of gold.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron Keith Teter; and brother Pat.
She is survived by three adopted children: Kristin McCord, Julie Elsey and Lindsey Teter; her grandchildren Phillip Trent, Gage Trent, Anthony Trent, Davis Elsey, Ava Elsey, and Memphis Elsey; and sisters, Edythe Harland and Jean Rubier.
