Long time Cushing resident Leola Robison passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023, at the age of 98. Her care has been entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, Oklahoma.
Born April 28, 1925, in Salem, Arkansas, she was the daughter of George Washington Frank II and Myrl Butler Franks. Her family moved to the Schlegel community when she was two years old. They loved the area since they could walk to church and school events and had several relatives in the area. Her family farmed so her days were spent helping with the animals or working in the garden.
She graduated from Yale High School in 1943 then studied at Oklahoma School of Accounting in Tulsa, later joining the World War II effort by working at Douglas Aircraft.
Upon returning to the Cushing area, she caught the eye of a young neighbor, Troy Robison, whom she married September 29, 1946. They were married 67 years before his death on August 25, 2013.
Leola retired in 1986 from Otasco having worked as a bookkeeper for 27 years. She also used her accounting skills by serving as treasurer at the Schlegel church, Calvary Baptist Church then Oak Street Baptist Church. She taught many children in Sunday School classes, church Training Union classes and Vacation Bible Schools. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church where she was especially proud to have been a deacon's wife for 55 years.
Leola was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Jewel and Vernon; sister Velma Collins; great-granddaughter Alyssa Morse.
Survivors include her son Darrel and wife Sandy Robison of Cushing, OK, daughter Natha and husband Kenneth Page of Ardmore, OK; Grandchildren Clayton and wife Cara Robison of Cushing, OK, Amber and husband Todd Dearmon of Bixby, OK, Elizabeth and husband Aaron Booth of Amarillo, TX, Steve and wife Paulette Cunningham of Edmond, OK, and Kendra and husband Micah Groves of Ardmore, OK who provided her with great grandchildren Sadie, Kale, Trace, Cambria, Kenzington, Teague, Keenan, Kate, Emma, Lillie, and Sophie; Two sisters in law Agnes Baker and Jeanne Franks as well as nephews, nieces and cousins included in her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Flynn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Leola's name to Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children, 3800 N. May Ave. Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
